11 Strathroy Army Cadet Corps
Support Committee
About Us
No. 11 is fortunate to have a dedicated team of volunteers for our Support Committee. While the military staff (CIC officers, Regular/Reserve Force volunteers) handle training, the Support Committee is responsible for various tasks such as organizing fundraising activities, coordinating canteen refreshments on parade nights, and organizing food for weekend activities. The committee welcomes new members from all diverse backgrounds and experience.
If you are interested in helping, we would greatly appreciate it if you could send us an email using the form at the bottom of this page.
You have the option to join the Support Committee as a regular contributor, or you can volunteer occasionally when you have spare time.

Who Are the Members of the Support Committee?
The committee is open to the public, parents or guardians of cadets and to adults without a cadet in the unit who would like to become involved in the cadet Corps. For parents, it is a great way to get a chance to ask questions, get to know other cadet’s parents and keep up to date with your cadet’s activities. Like the cadets, parents make long time friendships as well.
What is the Time Commitment?
You have the option to become a regular contributor to the Support Committee or volunteer on an occasional basis when you have availability. Any amount of time you can dedicate will greatly enhance the cadet experience. We warmly welcome new volunteers to join our team!
Why Do We Fundraise?
Working in the background the Support Committee is responsible for raising funds to cover the extra costs that the Corps may incur for team equipment and outings among other things. They coordinate and run tag days, dinners, trips and many other events that enhance the Cadet program.
What does the Support Committee do?
The #11 Support Committee is responsible for providing help to the Corps in a number of areas, including:
Promoting the Cadet Program to the community
Fundraising and managing funds for additional activities not supported financially by the Canadian Forces such as trips, extra training equipment etc.
Facilitate the recruitment of eligible young people as cadets,
Assist the Corps at public and Corps activities
Organizing social events for the Corps
Conduct communications/public affairs activity
Identify qualified persons as potential officers for the Corps.
Assist the Commanding Officer in the care and custody of Corps equipment,
Keep in contact with the Support Committees of other cadet units and
Conduct the business of the Support Committee
Please be aware that the Support Committee does not play a direct role in the cadets' training program, including its planning, execution, evaluation, or promotion. If you have any questions or concerns about the training program or a cadet's progress or performance, please direct them to the Training Officer. The best time to discuss these matters is at the end of the training night, once the cadets have been dismissed from the parade square.
